CATHERINE
BRÛLÉ
FALL/WINTER 2002
Catherine
Brulé's Fall/Winter 2002-03 collection is a vivacious one, resurrecting
some design features while debuting a few of her own. Cute separates
in the trendy combination of black and red form the bulk of the collection.
Texture is created in the gathering of thin jersey in the body-hugging
pieces. Neck variations made for the widest testing ground, with triangular
finishing appearing as a hallmark. Off-the-shoulder modifications such
as the boomerang cutout resonates strongly. The punchy powder blue wraparound
skirt with extended zipper demonstrates that Brulé knows the younger
market of today.
Excellent examples of Brulé's vintage zest factor is the low-cut waist
faded denim hip huggers and the little black dress. But Brulé was out
to prove that she can also do sophisticated, as in the sombre full-length
bias-cut black lace dress with asymmetric neck/sleeve/shoulder details.
The cadmium-red fitted off-the-shoulder jersey dress with cropped sleeves
is one of the most multi-functional offerings in the Catherine Brulé
line-up.
