MUSE FALL/WINTER 2002
Christian
Chenail stays true to his roots in creating another neo-romanticist
ode to cultural period icons. 'Zhivago', the theme of this season's
Muse collection, plays variations on the fallen aristocracy of Russian
bourgeois chic. An austere rear-pleated cropped ascot riding jacket
contrasts with a delicate Martinique-striped translucent top with balloon
sleeves. Gothic patterns are prominent, as is the confluence of religion
and sex; attitudes befitting the fallen aristocracy. The main Muse offerings
of broader appeal are the skirts, as seen in the sheer blue-grey gothic
lace number with open side.
