Muse
spring/summer 2005
Veteran Quebec designer Christian
Chenail revealed one of the most wearable collections on the Canadian
fashion stage for spring 2005.
One of Muse's biggest strengths
this season is its ability to spin colour grades so pleasing that you
might overlook how snappily tailored everything is. The sari-style wraps
exhibit this perfectly, as well as a new, perhaps less structured look
for Muse. Elephant-sleeved blouses in melting ocean colours go extremely
well with the baby blue slacks. For its carefree attitude, this is a
quintessential spring collection.
The butterfly motifs are
also cute, but they're far from being the most impressive elements.
The white zip-up vests with nehru collars, and their longer evening
counterparts add needed, razor-cut sharpness to a season already awash
in enough silk chiffons to choke a horse. The black and white pleated
geo-print dress is complicated enough to be subtle.
Details like hook
closures enable other pieces to go buttonless, a good thing when you're
going for streamlining, which Chenail also does successfully in this
collection.
