FASHION DESIGNERS COLLECTIONS FOR SPRING-SUMMER 2005

Parasuco

From punk rebel to fantasy cowboy, Parasuco's spring 2005 collection seeks to lure whoever isn't already a minion of their denim empire.

Though I doubt the label believes it can achieve this solely through outlandish touches like ostrich feathers, the full range of looks was presented to stunning results. For women, distressed hip-huggers were worn with a denim corset that looks surprisingly comfortable. A barmaid skirt with long shoulder straps teases in a different way. Hotpants in earthy colours are a first for me, but I'm a sucker for new ideas. The white denim jacket and matching short shorts provides a perfect canvas for patches, relics from the past that we as culture recyclers are determined not to throw away.

The sex appeal is by no means restricted to women. From western shirts with ties bringing in some kind of careless formality to tastefully embroidered track suits, the message is for men to let go and have some fun while still looking cool. The sleeveless vests are among the most attractive items and they proudly bear the Parasuco name.

Many of the best pieces in the collection had not a stitch of denim in them, possibly showing a new direction for Parasuco. In short, spring promises to be electrifying for whoever can let their imagination run free, as far as denim and all its glitzy trappings go.
