FASHION DESIGNERS COLLECTIONS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2007

Eve Gravel
spring/summer 2007

Eve Gravel spring/summer 2007 seeks to impress with a diversity that is overwhelming for a collection of it size.

It’s a sea of stripes! An adorable bolero-style blue and white striped top is just made for the funky layering that Eve Gravel does with it. Other instances of these simple marine stripes come in black, green and salmon, running either horizontally or vertically—whatever Gravel’s silhouette magic du jour calls for.

No, The Unbearable Lightness of Being wasn’t written about this collection, but it very well could’ve been. The lightness of some of these pieces is like taking a breath of helium. Gravel floats us away with bikini tops (that are somewhat an out-of-place), gauzy chiffon camisoles, and simple cotton and linen dresses that don’t pretend to be anything they’re not. They just are.

What has always been Eve Gravel’s greatest strength is also her most glaring flaw—the sheer diversity of any of her collections. With so many separates in so many styles and colours to choose from, it’s impossible not to find something to wear, ranging from tribal to tropical to elegant. It’s also seems impossible, on the other hand, to narrow down the look, as far as the collection’s rack identity is concerned.

Unfortunately, with designers this talented, we want to be able to put our finger on them.
