FASHION DESIGNERS COLLECTIONS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2007

Rush Couture
spring/summer 2007

Claudette Floyd gives a modern, urban twist to the Southern Belle look of the 1960’s for her spring/summer 2007 collection.

Fitted satin jackets flaunt empire waists, sassing it up on top of eyelet skirts, an element that’s been splashed all over the Canadian fashion stage this season. Lucky for us that Floyd does wicked double layers—eyelet is meant to be slightly off-kilter. The champagne frill skirt has the same kind of bounce as the dusty yellow chiffon bell dress, though I could do without the Christmas tree bow.

Scarlett O’Hara would be proud to walk the streets of the Old South in the shades of lily white, sunflower yellow and black orchid.

Silhouettes, however, are the focus. The bell skirt gets as playful and dramatic as it can without becoming a costume piece. The bustier dress is all about sculpting definition, and the filleted satin dress is all about letting the fabric find it’s own.
